It is generally recommended to paint polystyrene cornice moldings before installing them. This allows for easier and more thorough coverage of the molding, as well as the ability to paint the entire surface without worrying about getting paint on the ceiling or walls. Additionally, painting the moldings before installation can help to seal the material and protect it from damage or discoloration over time. However, if the moldings are already installed, it is still possible to paint them in place with careful preparation and masking of surrounding surfaces. **
